The 300 metres’ walk to the gorge is
worth the trouble. Following the European path E4, on the way to the
gorge, the famous Valley of the Dead, you cannot miss the
archaeological site of the place, the Minoan palace.
Our newly built “KATERINA” apartments and maisonettes situated
amphitheatrically all in Cretan style are just opposite the rocks of
the hill.
Crossing the alley of our domain the scent of the lentisk, the
perfume of oregano and sage wish you a warm welcome.
The view of the green plain, the massive rocks and the blue sea is
breath taking. Every one of our apartments and maisonettes has
separate bedrooms, a sitting room, a fully equipped kitchen,
air-conditioning and a fridge.
You can make a barbecue on your individual balcony and thus avoid
dinner out if you do not want to. In your fridge you will be offered
local fresh drinks, the famous Cretan raki and wine from our own
vineyard.
From our verandas sitting on the couch hammocks you can enjoy the
silence of nature, the singing of the birds and the whisper of the
leaves.
We do not consider our guests as customers but treat them like
members of our family.
Of course, we are always at your disposal for any information
concerning trips, excursions or visits in our region.
We recommend strongly that you visit the Eastern end and last
stopping place of Crete.
Swimming in the spotless sea or sunbathing on the golden beach is a
real delight, whereas nudism in discrete creeks is also possible.
Also, the flat rocks of the place invite you to go fishing with a
fly line while diving with a fishing gun is a strong experience.
Just next to you, you can visit the ruins of the Minoan palace, a
witness of the most ancient civilisation in Europe, a history that
goes back to the dawn of time.
Go through the Valley of the Dead, admire the oleanders waving in
the wind and the rocky caves that shelter ancient tombs on either
side of the dry riverbed.
For those who seek adventure and excitement there is Castella
mountain to climb and the rock walls at the entrance of the gorge to
scale.
For speleologists the Palekita cave is a challenge and an
opportunity to taste our pure dry sea salt from rock hollows on the
way to it.
At the seaside restaurants you can enjoy traditional home cooked
specialities, excellent local products, olive oil, vegetables, fresh
fish …
Before you leave this legendary place, remember to visit the water
spring of Pano Zakros.
Along with the souvenirs that will keep you company for the rest of
your life, do not forget to take away some extra virgin olive oil,
the boast of our country and the most precious treasure our rich
Minoan land has ever offered us.
Our constant concern is that you enjoy your stay with us. |
